Epic rides abound on Taiwan, and the Buddha Hand ride in Taipei is one of the most iconic. The route is focused on Yanmingshan National Park, immediately to the north of Taipei City. The thumb of the hand starts with a climb up to 800 meters before bombing down to Jinshan on the coast. Then a series of climbs and descents, punctuated by short rides along the coast, fills out the fingers. Finally, the route climbs 860 meters to the saddle below Datun summit, and then descends back into Taipei City. The Buddha Hand route is 137 kilometers in length and ascends more than 3,600 meters.
